- Curtis Honey (finger) and Ryley Lindgren (undisclosed) are out of the Wheat Kings' lineup tonight due to injury, with Kord Pankewicz, Braylon Shmyr, Brett Kitt and Taylor Green rounding out Brandon's scratches.
- nothing came out of the fighting major and game misconduct Brandon defenceman Ryan Pilon was assessed with 24 seconds left in Game Three Tuesday. I suspected at the time it was an overpenalization of what had occurred on the ice and the WHL office obviously agreed. The way it reads on the scoresheet, it appears to be a one-man fight, which would have normally resulted in some type of suspension.
- the drew a lot of accolades for their play in the first round, but the Brandon line of John Quenneville, Jayce Hawryluk and Jesse Gabrielle has had an up-and-down series against Edmonton. The threesome created the most offensive chances for the team in Game Three, but their overall lack of discipline has also hurt the team. The trio has combined to take 12 minor penalties (an average of four per game) so far in this series (plus Hawryluk's 10-minute misconduct on Tuesday) and are a combined minus-11 in the series.
- If you're wondering, the last time Brandon won an elimination game in the WHL playoffs was on March 28, 2008, the second of back-to-back wins the Wheat Kings recorded over Lethbridge after falling behind 0-3 in their first round series against the Hurricanes. Brandon lost that series in six games.
