Brandon Wheat Kings' forward Jayce Hawryluk has been named to Canada's under-18 roster for next week's Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Hawryluk impressed at the squad's selection camp Toronto over the past few days including a one goal, one assist performance in Sunday's intrasquad game.

"I just played my game, what I usually do," said Hawryluk late Monday afternoon, "Threw the body, made some plays and just struck to me game and didn't try to do anything different and they liked what they saw, I guess."

Hawryluk is one of seven WHLers to make the squad, joining Victoria's Joe Hicketts, Red Deer's Haydn Fleury, Lethbridge's Ryan Pilon, Moose Jaw's Brayden Point, Kelowna's Rourke Chartier and Calgary's Jake Virtanen.

He's the first Wheat King to play on Canada's Under-18 team at the Ivan Hlinka Tournament since Brayden Schenn and Scott Glennie in 2008.

"It's a huge honour, that's for sure," added Hawryluk, "It's always been a goal of mine to represent Canada the Under-18's and now that's come true, it's definitely a huge honour and I'm at a loss for words."

The tournament opens next Monday with Canada facing the Czech Republic.

Sweden and Switzerland are the other two teams in Canada's pool.

Canada has won the tournament for five consecutive years.
