Boes has been sidelined since January 25th with a knee injury and is currently listed as day-to-day.
"It felt pretty good," said Boes after Wednesday's practice, "I've been doing a lot of rehab over the last few weeks and just patiently waiting to get back on the ice and, finally, the trainer let me back out there today."
While Boes, 19, took part in practice he didn't fully participate as he makes his way back from an injury he believes could have been more serious if not for a little patience.
"Our trainer was pretty cautious. He didn't want me to go back too soon and make the injury worse and almost need surgery if I made it worse," said Boes, "He was really cautious and fully healed before I headed back out."
Prior to the injury, Boes was starting to play his best hockey of the the 2012-2013 season.
He had stopped 128 of 135 shots over a three-game span including 43 saves in the 2-1 overtime victory in Red Deer on January 25th -- the game in which he was injury in a goal-mouth collision with Rebels' forward Brooks Maxwell midway through the third period.
"I'd like to pick up where I left off before the injury," said Boes, "In saying that, it's not going to be easy. It's not just going to happen, you have to work at it and when I get a chance to play, I have to give the guys a chance to win and see what happens."
It's uncertain whether Boes will be ready to play this weekend when Brandon visits the Saskatoon Blades on Friday and the Swift Current Broncos on Sunday.
Curtis Honey has started 10 of the 12 games that Boes has missed while affiliate player Jordan Papirny starting the other two contests.
Chaff...Kord Pankewicz, who missed Monday's game in Saskatoon while nursing an ankle injury, practiced Tuesday but D Ryan Pulock and D Colton Waltz both sat out and were both noticeably limping...former Wheat King Michael Ferland took a cross-checking major in the final minute of Saskatoon's 5-1 win over Moose Jaw Wednesday, an infraction that'll be automatically reviewed by the WHL office for a possible suspension. That could mean he'll miss Friday's game against Brandon...Prime Minister Stephen Harper met with the Blades prior to Wednesday's game...Brandon product Carson Perreaux had a goal and an assist in Prince Albert's 5-2 win over Medicine Hat on Wednesday night.
