- The Wheat Kings will scratch G Corbin Boes (knee, indefinite), F Richard Nejezchleb (lacerate hand, indefinite) and F Tyrel Seaman (concussion, out for season). D Kord Pankewicz took the pre-game warmup but is a healthy scratch for the fourth time in five games.
- Not including shootout goals, Brandon has gone nine straight games scoring two or fewer goals and, during their current four-game losing streak, have been outscored 18-5. Brandon has lost six of seven home games since the Christmas break and their home record (8-15-1-0) is the worst in the WHL.
- Just a note offensively (or lack thereof) for the Wheat Kings, Ryan Pulock is currently leading the team in scoring with 32 points. That puts him in a tie for 95th-place in scoring in the WHL. That's right, 94 players have more points than Brandon's leading scorer. BTW, whomever ends up leading the Wheat Kings in scoring this year will (quite likely) will have the lowest total in team history. The previous low (in the modern era) was Codey Burki's 61 points in 2005-2006.
- Rookie Jayce Hawryluk has six points (4 G, 2 A) in his last five games and is seventh in the WHL in rookie scoring this season with 31 points. Hawryluk is talented and has a bright future ahead, as long as he matures properly.
- The Pats snapped an eight-game losing streak with their 3-2 win over Brandon last night but have been struggling offensively just as much as the Wheat Kings, having scored 14 goals in their last seven games. The one difference is that all of those past seven games for Regina have been decided by a single goal.
