Blast from the Past Back with Wheat Kings

Mark Johnston is back with the Brandon Wheat Kings.

The club named Johnston their head scout Friday, the same role he held for 12 years with the team from 1989 to 2001.

Johnston also served an assistant coach with the team from 1990 to 2001.

He abruptedly resigned from both roles on January 16, 2001.

Johnston's primary responsibilities with the Wheat Kings this time around will be scouting Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

On Thursday, the Wheat Kings also introduced Wade Klippenstein as their new director of scouting, replacing the retired Al MacPherson.

Klippenstein and Johnston join a scouting staff that also includes senior Scout Gary Michalick of Winnipeg, Mike Fraser, Nestor Chomik and Wayne Commodore in Alberta, Derrick Kemp in Saskatchewan as well as Dennis McNish and Frank Harding in Manitoba.
