Nejezchleb Looks for Better Things in Year Two

Richard Nejezchleb attended Pittsburgh's Development
Camp in July
Richard Nejezchleb is hoping for more production and a little more luck in his sophmore season with the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Nejezchleb had 11 goals and 24 points in 35 games last season but missed nearly half of the season with a pair of injuries, a separated shoulder in the first hald and a lacerated thumb during the second half.

"Just stay healthy, try to put up some points and try to go as far as we can int he playoffs," said Nejezchleb when asked about his goals for 2013-2014, "I was so nervous my first year, now I know everything so it's easier for me.  I'm much more confident, it's a lot better than last year."

After participating in their development camp last month, Nejezchleb is headed to rookie camp with the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins next week.

He'll play with the Pens in a four-day rookie tournament in London, Ontario that begins September 5th.

"It was good experience, the guys from Pittsburgh told me that I made a good impression," said Nejezchleb, "I'm excited to go back and show what I can do."

Nejezchleb is one of four Wheat Kings that'll need to NHL Rookie Camps next week.

Ryan Pulock (NY Islanders), Eric Roy (Calgary Flames) and Nick Walters (St. Louis Blues) are the others.

Chaff...Although it was never officially announced, former Wheat Kings' defenceman Tyler Yaworski is listed as new recruit for the Manitoba Bisons...Brandon's other graduated 20-year old from last season, Nick Buonassissi, is attending UBC...the Wheat Kings' haven't even started training camp yet, but the WHL pre-season opens tonight with the Moose Jaw Warriors taking on the Broncos in Swift Current.
