  Make it two in a row for the new look Brandon Wheat Kings.

  The Wheat Kings allowed a season-low 20 shots against in a 2-1 home-ice victory over the Regina Pats on Saturday night.

  Chad Robinson and Tim McGauley scored the goals for Brandon while Curtis Honey had a relatively quiet net in the Wheat Kings' goal, handling 19 shots including just four in the third period with Brandon trying to lock down the 2-1 lead.

  "We worked on it last week, we watched some video and we started to see it coming in Moose Jaw last (Friday) night where we were committed to it," said Brandon coach Dwayne Gylywoychuk on CKLQ's post-game show, "We're really trying to sell that any level of hockey, it all starts in your D-Zone and you need to see five guys in the zone.  We've been victim where we haven't played very well in our D-Zone and we want to cheat on offense and I thought these two games here, especially tonight, we did a real good job."

  After a scoreless first period that produced just 12 shots, six for each team, Brandon got on the board on a power-play goal by Robinson at 10:42 with McGauley making it 2-0 at 15:21 with the second shorthanded in as many nights for the Wheat Kings.

  Carson Samoridby notched his first as a Regina Pats 38 seconds after the McGauley goal on the same power-play that Brandon had scored shorthanded one by Regina never really threated to get the equalizer, especially in the third period.

  For McGauley, it was the second game-winning goal in as many nights and gave the rookie centre 13 goals on the season including seven in the last 12 games.

  "It feels pretty good.  I'm just trying to contribute to the team and try and be a team guy," said McGauley on CKLQ's post-game show, "I'm trying to do everything I can to help the team win.  It's all about the team first, and I'm here to help the team."

  Nick Buonassisi set up both Brandon goals, helping the Wheat Kings (16-25-2-2) jump past two teams into 10th-place in the Eastern Conference.

  However, Brandon remains seven points out of a playoff spot.

Chaff...Saturday's game was just the fifth start at home for Curtis Honey (his other 13 appearances have been on road). He's now 3-1-1 with a 2.40 GAA and .924 SPCT at home this season...former Wheat King Ryley Miller scored in his debut with the MJHL's Dauphin Kings Saturday, helping Dauphin to an 8-3 victory over the OCN Blizzard...former Wheat King Eric Fehr  has reportedly agreed to a one-year, $600,000 contract with the Washington Capitals Saturday.  Fehr had recorded 13 goals and 25 points in 21 games with HPK Hameenlinna in Finland’s SM-Liiga during the lockout.  Fehr was a first-round draft pick by the Capitals in 2003 and played 230 games with Washington before spending last year with the Winnipeg Jets.
