Reese Scarlett, Dillon Heatherington and Adam Lowry scored the goals in the middle frame for the Broncos while Eetu Laurikainen stopped 26 shots in the Swift Current net.
"We started off strong, we had some good things going after 20 mintues and we sort of fell off," said Brandon assistant coach David Anning on CKLQ's post-game show, "They pushed back, they came at us and to give up three in the middle frame, it was tough to overcome."
Eric Roy scored a first period goal for the Wheat Kings, who outshot the Broncos 9-5 in the opening 20 minutes.
After the poor second period, Brandon got to within a goal 4:13 into the third period on Geordie Maguire fourth goal of the season.
The Wheat Kings couldn't get the equalizer despite a couple of scoring chance including a partial breakaway for Nick Buonassisi with just over six minutes left and Jayce Hawryluk ringing a shot off the crossbar as the buzzer sounded to end regulation time.
"I think as a lot of people could see here tonight, our first period was really good and then we kind of shyed away in the second and came out strong in the third," said Brandon defenceman Nick Walters, "I think the message for us if we just have to learn to play a 60-minute game."
Curtis Honey stopped 15 shots in goal for the Wheat Kings, who have lost four in a row on home-ice.
In fact, the Wheat Kings have won just four of 17 home games since the Christmas break and have a league-low 11 home wins this season.
Brandon's next action is Wednesday when they host the Prince Albert Raiders (7:05 p.m., Westman Communications Group Place).
They'll then and conclude their season with a weekend home-and-home versus the Moose Jaw Warriors.
