The Regina Pats won the Western Hockey League draft lottery Wednesday, moving the Pats up from the #4 spot to #2.
That means the Wheat Kings move down one spot in the first round and will have the fourth overall selection at the Bantam Draft on May 2nd.
Vancouver will have the first overall pick, followed by Regina at #2 and Prince George at #3.
The Wheat Kings also have the #17 overall pick from the Michael Ferland deal with Saskatoon and the third pick of the second round, 25th overall.
The last time Brandon had an overall selection this high was the last time they missed the playoffs in 2000, and selected Eric Fehr fifth overall and Ryan Stone with the 23rd overall pick (2nd round).
If the Wheat Kings get similar results from this year's top two (or three) picks, look out!!
It's also interesting to note that Brandon has two third round picks (their own and Spokane), their own fourth round selection and two fifth round pick (their own and Spokane's).
For those keeping track, that's eight of the first 102 picks of the draft.
