Honey Set for Return

Curtis Honey
Curtis Honey will return to the Brandon Wheat Kings' lineup Friday night when the club hosts the Swift Current Broncos (7:30 p.m., Westman Communications Group Place).

Honey has missed 14 games with an upper body injury, which was originally suffered on October 30th.

"We didn't think it was going to take this long but just taking it day-by-day and took longer than expected," said Honey after Thursday's practice, "Here I am now so I'm just happy to be back and happy to get back at it."

Honey has been practicing fully with the Wheat Kings for the past week but whether he plays or is on the bench Friday night is still up in the air.

"Obviously, getting in the first game after missing all that time will be real exciting and real fun," said Honey, "That's the next step and I'm just looking forward to it.

Rookie Jordan Papirny has started 14 straight games in Honey's absence, going 8-4-2 with a 3.68 goals against average and .885 save percentage.

With Honey's return, the Wheat Kings released goaltender Christopher Tai on Thursday.

Tai was acquired from Lethbridge two weeks ago for a conditional eighth round pick in the 2015 bantam draft.

His release reduces Brandon's roster to 23 players (two goaltenders, seven defencemen and 14 forwards).
