- D Colton Waltz is expected to return to the Wheat Kings' lineup tonight after missing three games with an upper body injury. Kord Pankewicz is listed as a question mark, but will sit if Waltz is ready to go following warmup. Jesse Gabrielle (Team West, U17) and Braylon Shmyr (Team Pacific, U17) are also out tonight. Affiliate players Duncan Campbell and Tanner Kaspick were returned to the Brandon AAA Midget Wheat Kings once the team returned from its Alberta road trip.
- The Wheat Kings have just one regulation loss in their last nine games at WCGP (6-1-2-0), outscoring their opponents 47-27 in the process. The only blemish in that span for Brandon was a 4-3 loss to Swift Current on December 6th.
- Tonight's game is the fifth of eight meetings between the Pats and the Wheat Kings during the 2013-2014 season. The home team has won every game of the season series so far. Richard Nejezchleb (2 G, 4 A) and Peter Quenneville (2 G, 4 A) lead the Wheat Kings with six points each against Regina while Jordan Papirny is 2-0 with a 2.00 GAA and .938 SPCT.
- Speaking of Papirny, he's 3-0 with a 1.33 goals against average and .955 save percentage in his last three starts.
- Another important game in the Eastern Conference playoff chase tonight. Brandon enters the game tied with Regina and Prince Albert for fifth-place in the Eastern Conference with 44 points. Kootenay is eighth with 43 points and Red Deer ninth with 42 points. The Wheat Kings are also just four points behind the East Division-leading Swift Current Broncos with two games in hand.
