Quenneville Enjoys Productive December

Peter Quenneville had a team-high 14 points in ten
December games for the Wheat Kings
It was a productive December for Brandon Wheat Kings’ right-winger Peter Quenneville.

The 19-year old led the Wheat Kings in scoring with six goals and eight assists for 14 points in ten games last month while scoring three power-play goals and finishing with a +4 rating.

“I always knew that I could bring some offense and eventually the points would come once my ankle got better and things like that,” said Quenneville, who joined the team from Quinnipiac College in early November, “It was good that towards the end of the month, I was able to get rolling and get some confidence and, hopefully, the team can continue to build and win.”

The 5-foot-11, 185 pound Quenneville enters Thursday’s contest in Calgary with a four-game point streak and has been the Wheat Kings’ top scorer through a 19 game stretch since Remembrance Day, when the team has gone 11-4-4-0.

“The younger players are starting to mature, whether its the 16-year olds or 17-year olds in their first year, they have half year under their belt,”said Quennevillle, “Even for me, I think I’ve learned a lot in two months already and to see Johnny (Quenneville) grow up like he has, and Jayce (Hawryluk) and other guys I’ve gotten close to, I think we’re really starting to mesh and as we have more success, I think that’ll only continue.”

The Wheat Kings enter Thursday’s game in Calgary in fifth-place in the WHL’s Eastern Conference, three points behind fourth-place Medicine Hat and two ahead of both Prince Albert and Regina.

Jayce Hawryluk will return to Brandon’s linup for Thursday’s game after serving a three-game suspension.
