"Jake is very deserving of this award," said Calgary head coach Mark Howell in a release, "He has been consistent from start to finish this year, has played tremendous hockey and helped us win games. He has been a leader and one of the best goaltenders in the league, and it's fitting that he receives this recognition."
DeSerres spent the 2009-2010 season with the Wheat Kings after being acquired from Seattle in October of 2009 and was Brandon's starting goaltender when they hosted the Memorial Cup in May of 2010.
The next year, DeSerres joined the Saint John Sea Dogs and led them to the 2011 Memorial Cup, being named the QMJHL's Goaltender of the Year in the process.
