John Quenneville (left) chats with the 'new guy', Nolan Patrick, during Wheat Kings' practice on Monday |
Nolan Patrick will be joining the Wheat Kings for the remainder of the season, and could make his WHL debut tomorrow night when Brandon hosts the Saskatoon Blades.
"I want to take in as much as I can from the vets here," said Patrick after Monday's practice, "They know a lot more than I do, so I just want to be a sponge here."
Patrick was the fourth overall pick in the 2013 Bantam Draft and had 33 goals and 63 points in 39 games with the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League's Winnipeg Thrashers during the regular season.
He added three goals and ten points in eight playoff games, but his Thrashers were eliminated in the MMHL playoffs on Friday night.
"It was a pretty good season," said Patrick, " I started off pretty slow but then I got in a groove. We didn't get the result we wanted at the end of the year but, overall, it was a good year for myself."
There's no word on whether Duncan Campbell or Tanner Kaspick from the Brandon AAA Midget Wheat Kings could possibly join the team this week as well.
They were eliminated from the MMHL playoffs on Sunday.
Sixth overall pick Kale Clague and the Lloydminster Bobcats are facing the St. Albert Raiders in the Dodge Division Final of the Alberta Midget Hockey League.
Clague has five points (all assists) in five playoff games after scoring 11 goals and 33 points in 31 regular season contests.
