| Ryan Pulock passed Brad McCrimmon for most career goals by a defenceman in Wheat Kings' history on Saturday |
Hawryluk had a career-best five points on two goals and three assists to pace Brandon offensively while Pulock’s second period power-play goal was the 62nd of his career, allowing him to pass Brad McCrimmon for the Wheat Kings’ franchise record for most goals by a defenceman.
“Something that isn’t reflective of a good week or a good season, it’s reflective of four great years in our organization,” said McCrimmon, “Couldn’t happen to a better guy and, certainly, for the record to be passed from Brad McCrimmon to Ryan Pulock is something that we all feel good about.”
Special teams were key for the Wheat Kings, with Brandon scoring three shorthanded goals and three power-play goals. Quintin Lisoway, with his team-leading third shorthanded goal of the season, Hawryluk and Chad Robinson did the honours with Brandon a man short.

“For me, they always shift momentum – when you get one or when you give one up,” said McCrimmon, “ I thought, each time, pretty big goals for our team, certainly the first two. When you look to energy on the road, I just felt it really gave our team momentum.”
Tim McGauley and Richard Nejezchleb added a goal and an assist each for Brandon with John Quenneville also scoring for the Wheat Kings.
Brandon (31-26-6-2) remain in seventh-place in the Eastern Conference, three points behind sixth-place Swift Current and five ahead of both Red Deer and Prince Albert, who are tied for eighth-place.
The Wheat Kings conclude their two-game Saskatchewan road trip by visiting the Broncos on Sunday night (6:35 p.m., 880 CKLQ).
