Peter Quenneville (in gold) will return to Brandon's lineup this weekend. |
Quenneville has missed the last ten games with a lower body injury but practiced without restrictions on Wednesday and is set to go for Brandon's final two games of the regular season.
"There's a lot at stake, and we know that. The expectation to play well and to perform and to log big minutes is always going to be there," said Quenneville, who has 16 goals and 45 points in 42 games this season, "I'm just looking forward to stepping back in and trying to contribute and helping the boys get the wins this weekend."
Brandon goes into the final weekend of the regular season in a tie with Red Deer for seventh-place in the WHL's Eastern Conference, two points ahead of the ninth-place Prince Albert Raiders.
The Rebels edged Kootenay 3-2 on Wednesday while the Raiders were whallopped 7-1 in Regina.
"It's good to get back, get my feet going back into game play," added Quenneville, who skated on a line with Tim McGauley and Richard Nejezchleb Wednesday, "In playoffs, the speed is always going to ramp up and the intensity and I think these last two games, as important as they are, will simulate a playoff atmosphere so I think that's big for me."
Jens Meilleur also practiced on Wednesday, but in a no-contact jersey.
Meilleur has missed the last five games with a lower body injury.
Brandon visits Regina on Friday night before hosting the Pats Saturday to close out the regular season.
