Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, in association with the Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that rookie goalkeeper Jordan Papirny has been chosen the Western Hockey League club's IMPACT Player of the Month for February.
A former first round bantam draft choice (22ndoverall) of the Wheat Kings, Papirny appeared in eight of the club's 14 games last month, compiling an impressive 2.86 goals against average, a .920 save percentage and a 2-3-2 record.
In 39 games for the Wheat Kings this season, the 6' 170 lb netminder has posted a 3.22 goals against average, an .899 save percentage and a record of 19-12-6 between the pipes.
Papirny, who appeared in three games for the Wheat Kings as an affiliate in 2012-13, was chosen the Most Valuable Player in last year's Alberta AAA Midget League Playoffs as a member of the SSAC Edmonton Athletics.
The 17-year old Edmonton product joins Ryan Pulock, Peter Quenneville, Jayce Hawryluk and Richard Nejezchleb as winners of this year's monthly honour.
