Road Trip Continues Tuesday

Another day, another opportunity at first-place for the Brandon Wheat Kings on Tuesday night.
The Wheat Kings continue their three-game road trip by visiting the Medicine Hat Tigers, with a victory moving Brandon back into a tie with idle Swift Current for first-place in the WHL’s East Division.
Unfortunately for the Wheat Kings, the road hasn’t been overly kind in the second half.
The team having collected just three wins in 11 road games (3-5-2-1) since the Christmas break, although they’ve had opportunities in nearly every one of those contests to come out on top.
“I think we have to play a grittier, 60-minute road game,” said fourth-year Wheat Kings’ forward Jens Meilleur, “We have to be expecting a 3-2, 2-1 win, and be a lot harder on our opponents.”
As the race for top spot hits the final quarter of the season (Brandon has 17 games left including Tuesday’s contest), the theme of being a little grittier seems to have come to the forefront for the Wheat Kings.
“We have to go out there, and each guy get three hits.  It’s not one guy getting 15, it’s everybody and that’ll wear teams down by the third period,” said Meilleur, “You don’t have to go looking for them, and you don’t have to put them through the boards but you have to bump them, hit them and let them know you’re there.”
The Wheat Kings enter Tuesday’s game two points behind the front-running Broncos with two games in hand.
Those two games in hand will be the contest in Medicine Hat and Wednesday’s affair in Lethbridge, as Swift Current is idle until Friday night.
