Blades' Sale Official

  The Western Hockey League's board of governors have green lit the sale of the Saskatoon Blades by unanimous vote.

  Edmonton-based auto dealer Mike Priestner has bought the franchise from the Brodsky family though the purchase price was not revealed.

  Priestner is the father of former Brandon Wheat Kings' goaltender James Priestner.

  "Given his highly successful career in the automotive industry, we are confident Mike Priestner is capable of meeting our expectations as the new owner of the Saskatoon Blades franchise," said WHL Commissioner Ron Robison in a media release. "Mike is committed to doing whatever is necessary to maintain the storied tradition of the Blades in the Saskatoon community."

  The Brodsky family have owned the franchise since 1976.

  The Blades are the longest standing WHL member club in the 48 year history of the League.
