Notes
- Brandon scratches tonight are D Ryan Pulock (NY Islanders), D Riley Van Horne (healthy), D Dominic Thom (healthy), F Jesse Gabrielle (healthy), F Brett Kitt (healthy) and F Tyler Coulter(healthy), although Coulter did take warmup.
- Nick Walters being in the lineup comes as a bit of a surprise considered the Wheat Kings announced a couple of weeks ago that he was going to be out indefinitely with a hand injury. I asked Brandon GM/Coach Kelly McCrimmon what changed, and basically it was a second opinion from a doctor in Winnipeg who did not think surgery was necessary. More on that coming up in our pre-game show on 880, CKLQ tonight.
- It's the first time the Wheat Kings will face their former head coach Cory Clouston, who is now the bench boss of the Raiders. I think it's really a non-factor for the players. Only four of them played for Clouston in 2011-2012, five if you include Tim McGauley (who played 14 games that season). One of those (Pulock) isn't here and Eric Roy, Jens Meilleur and Curtis Honey are the others.
- Brandon product Carson Perreaux was pointless in two games to open the season but Raiders' PBP man Drew Wilson told me he's settled in nicely on an 'energy-line' with centre Shane Danyluk and newcomer Craig Leverton.
