The Brandon Wheat Kings reduced their roster to 28 players on Sunday by releasing 17-year old forwards Taylor Sanheim and Jordan Bochinski.

Sanheim, a product of Elkhorn, Manitoba, had one goal and one point in three pre-season games with Brandon this month while Winnipeg product Bochinski did not see any action in the pre-season.

Sanheim was assigned to the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Winkler Flyers while Bochinski will join the MJHL's Steinbach Pistons.

In fact, Bochinski played for the Pistons in pre-season action on Saturday night.

"Both players were part of a deep group of forwards at this age group," said Wheat Kings' GM/Coach Kelly McCrimmon in a release posted on the club's website, "We knew all along there would be difficult decisions getting our roster numbers down."

The moves leave the Wheat Kings with 16 forwards, ten defencemen and two goaltenders on their roster including 15-year old blueliner Kale Clague, who is ineligible to play in the WHL on a full-time basis this season.

Brandon opens the WHL regular season Friday when they visit Moose Jaw, and then the club will host the Warriors on their home opener on Saturday.
