  Plenty of goals in the Brandon Wheat Kings' intrasquad game Sunday, with Team Black trouncing Team White 12-4 in a game that was pretty much a blow out right from the outset.

  Jayce Hawryluk and Taylor Sanheim had a pair of goals each for Team Black while Chad Robinson had a goal and three assists and Jack Palmer chipped in with a goal and two helpers.

  "I couldn't get on the scoresheet for a couple of games but I did tonight and it was good," said Sanheim afterward, "I just stuck to me game, tried to figure it out and just keep on playing how I played.  I got here because I played my game and, hopefully, I can just keep on doing that."

  Sanheim's rights were acquired by the Wheat Kings from the Everett Silvertips as part of a deal on January 10 that also saw Brandon get 19-year old blueliner Nick Walters fwhile sending Ayrton Nikkel and a conditional sixth round pick in 2015 to the Silvertips.

  Sanheim, who's twin brother Travis is still on the pre-season roster of the WHL's Calgary Hitmen, had 27 goals and 52 points with the Yellowhead Chiefs last season and finished in a tie for eighth in league scoring in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.

  Brett Kitt, Conner Lukan, Ty Lewis, Taylor Cooper, Dakota Boutin and Quintin Lisoway also scored for Team Black on Sunday's intrasquad game while Rihard Bukarts had a goal and two assists for Team White with Ryley Lindgren, Aaron Kellogg and Jens Meilleur also scoring.

  There was no official shots on goal announced during Sunday's game but I had Jordan Papirny stopping 22 of 23 shots and Logan Thompson stopped 14 of 17 shots for Team Black while Curtis Honey allowed six goals on 21 shots and Evan Robert allowed six on 17 shots for Team White.


Kale Clague (#10 Black)

  Sunday's game also featured Brandon's top four picks in the 2013 Bantam Draft, Nolan Patrick, Kale Clague, Tanner Kaspick and Ty Lewis, none of whom are eligible to play in the WHL on a full-time basis this season.

  "I just wanted to get a name out for myself and show how I compete and what I have to bring to the table and also just to show what I have for next year," said the 5-foot-11, 180 pound Clague, "Go back into Midget AAA this season and have a great year and come back with the right attitude like the '97's that are here this year."

  Clague is expected to spend the 2013-2014 season with the Lloydminster Bobcats of the AMHL.

  "Just go back and make other players in that league play up to the level that I've been playing and not drop down to the pace there," said Clague, "Just play a high tempo game and keep making smart, simple plays."

  The Wheat Kings will now prepare for their first pre-season game, which will be on Friday night when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors (7:30 p.m., Westman Communications Group Place).
