Wheat Kings Send Young Trio to AAA Midget

  The Brandon Wheat Kings' pre-season roster was reduced to 30 on Monday.

  The club announced that 15-year old forwards Nolan Patrick and Tanner Kaspick and 16-year old defenceman Mark Matsuba have been sent to the AAA Midget ranks

  Patrick will play the 2013-2014 season with the Winnipeg Thrashers, Kaspick will play with the Brandon AAA Midget Wheat Kings and Matsuba is expected to play with St. Albert Sports Raiders of the Alberta Midget Hockey League.

  The Wheat Kings now have 18 forwards, 10 defencemen and two goaltenders on their pre-season roster including Ryan Pulock, Nick Walters and Eric Roy.

  The trio of defencemen will attend NHL training camps this week, Pulock with the New York Islanders, Walters with the St. Louis Blues and Roy with the Calgary Flames.

  Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Penguins did not return forward Richard Nejezchleb after he played with the team at a prospects tournament in London, Ontario over the weekend.

  Nejezchleb is expected to be back with the Wheat Kings on Tuesday.
