Notes
- Rene Hunter (possible concussion), who was injured in the first period of Friday's game in Moose Jaw, is out of the Wheat Kings' lineup tonight while second-year import Richard Nejezchleb (illness) will also sit tonight.
- Other Brandon scratches are D Ryan Pulock (NY Islanders), D Nick Walters (knuckle), D Taylor Green (upper body), F Tyler Coulter (healthy), F Braylon Shmyr (healthy) and F Duncan Campbell (healthy).
- In addition to Ryley Lindgren notching his first career WHL goal Friday, there were a couple of other firsts on Friday night. Dominic Thom picked up his first career point, an assist, and Braylon Shmyr recorded his first career WHL assist. Shmyr scored in his only appearance with the Wheat Kings last season.
- The Wheat Kings have won their home opener in 12 of the last 13 years. The only exception was a 4-3 setback to the Warriors in 2011-2012. That came after Brandon had opened that season with a win in Moose Jaw.
- Expect the usual pre-game players introductions and festivities tonight. I haven't been informed of when the expected puck drop might be, but I would think it's safe to assume around 7:40 p.m.
