“So often on the road, those first ten minutes you have to weather that stretch and get your through that point of the game and get your feet underneath you,” said Brandon GM/Coach Kelly McCrimmon on CKLQ’s post-game show, “I just didn’t think we did a good job there at all.”
Brandon product Carson Perreaux had his first career WHL hat-trick plus an assist for the Raiders, who improved their East Division record to 3-0-0-0.
Eric Roy had a goal and two assists for the Wheat Kings while Tim McGauley and Richard Nejezchleb added a goal and an assist each.
Brandon recovered from 4-0 and 6-1 deficits to make it a one-goal game in the third period thanks in part to a power-play that produced three goals on nine opportunities.
“We had better puck movement, and we moved the puck early as opposed to carrying the puck,” said McCrimmon, whose team went 0-for-7 on the power-play in their first two contests, “I thought we made some good plays, we scored some real nice goals on the power-play which were important in getting us back into the game.”
Rihards Bukarts, with his first career WHL goal, John Quenneville and Jack Palmer scored the other goals for Brandon while Curtis Honey stopped 37 shots in going the distance in the Wheat Kings’ net.
Brandon will visit Prince Albert again on Saturday night (7:30 p.m., 880 CKLQ).

Brandon welcomed defencemen Nick Walters, Taylor Green and Rene Hunter back to their lineup for Friday’s contest.
The most surprising of the trio was Walters, who was expected to miss the first two months of the regular season because of a hand injury that was believed to need surgery.
“Second opinion is what changed for Nick, which is good news for Nick and good news for us. He was originally diagnosed in St. Louis as requiring surgery, but the surgeons in Winnipeg that saw Nick didn’t think that was necessary,” said McCrimmon prior to Friday’s game, “He had a real good week of practice, there were no issues at all so he basically got clearance to play.”
Green had missed the last two games of the pre-season and first two games of the regular season because of an upper body injury and was playing his first regular season game with Brandon since being acquired from Seattle in August.
Hunter, meanwhile, missed one game after suffered a head injury in Brandon’s season opener in Moose Jaw last Friday.
Chaff...Virden product Landon Peel notched his first career WHL goal in his 57th career WHL game Friday, helping Kootenay to a 4-3 shootout win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The win was the 210th Ryan McGill behind the Kootenay bench, establishing a new franchise record for the Ice.
