  Jordan Papirny has been holding down the goaltending fort for the Brandon Wheat Kings since Curtis Honey suffered an upper body injury two weeks ago.

  Papirny will make a sixth straight start for Brandon on Wednesday night when they visit the Saskatoon Blades (6:35 p.m., 880 CKLQ).

  "So far, I think I've really tried to manage my time out on the ice," said Papirny after Tuesday's Wheat Kings' practice, "During the games, I'm really focusing on certain aspects and trying not to get too high or too low, especially play five games back-to-back like that."

  Papirny is 3-2-0 with a 3.42 goals against average and a .900 save percentage so far this month - numbers that are skewed somewhat after he allowed six goals on 41 shots in last Friday's 6-3 loss to the Swift Current Broncos.

  However, the 17-year old admits he's had some up-and-downs over the last two weeks.

  "That's going to happen.  It's unfortunate that it's happening in a short time span of five games but I've definitely had some highs and some lows I'd like back," said Papirny, "You don't get better by not making mistakes."

  Papirny, the 22nd overall pick in the 2011 Bantam Draft, has been making the adjustment to the Western Hockey League over the first two months of the regular season.

  While you never want to stifle what's made him successful in the past, the 6-foot-0, 170 pound product of Edmonton knows there's work to do.

  "Sometimes I do play too aggressive, and me and (Goaltender coach) Brent Zelenewich have worked on that a bit," said Papirny, "From my first start of the season until now, I think I've made a big adjustment in that area.  Obviously, it's something you work on during practice but to just to play a little less aggressive is something that I'm trying to work towards and I think it'll make me a better goalie."

  Overall in his rookie season, Papirny is 4-5-0 with a 3.48 GAA and .892 SPCT.

Chaff...D Eric Roy sat out practice Tuesday after suffering a leg injury during Monday's game against Lethbridge.  He's day-to-day...the Wheat Kings are 0-2-0-0 against the Blades this season, with both previous meetings coming in Brandon...Monday's 5-3 victory over Lethbridge on Monday was the eighth time the Wheat Kings scored four or more goals in a game.  Brandon is 7-1-0-0 when scoring four or more goals this season...Moose Jaw traded D Tyler Bell, 19, to the Lethbridge Hurricanes late Tuesday nigth for a third round pick in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft...Wawanesa product Jordan Thomson has left the Kamloops Blazers and returned home.  According to a news released issued by the Blazers on Tuesday, Thomson went home to deal with a 'personal matter.'
