Jayce Hawryluk |
Jayce Hawryluk notched his second straight hat-trick for the Wheat Kings as Brandon moved back to the .500 mark on the season at 9-9-0-0.
Hawryluk has six goals and eight points in two games since being a healthy scratch for Wednesday`s game in Portland.
"He`s been on the puck, working hard, and doing a lot of good things without the puck which is important for him as well," said Brandon GM and Coach Kelly McCrimmon on CKLQ`s post-game show, "If you look at the six goals, he`s scored goals a lot of different ways over the course of the last two hockey games and lots of skill and effort involved in each one."
John Quenneville had a goal and two assists and Richard Nejezchleb a pair of goals for Brandon, with all six of the Wheat Kings`goals coming 5-on-5.
"We took the puck to the net pretty well, which was a direct result for some of our offensive opportunities," said McCrimmon,"It was spread out pretty well, we had two in the first, two in the second and two in the third so that was encouraging."
Curtis Honey`s injury meant rookie Jordan Papirny was making back-to-back starts for the first time in his WHL career, with Papirny stopped 33 shots while former Wheat King Corbin Boes made 27 saves in the Hurricanes`net.
Brady Ramsay and Tyler Wong scored the goals for the Hurricanes.
Brandon returns to action Thursday when they host the Saskatoon Blades.
