Pulock Helps Team WHL to Victory

Ryan Pulock
Team WHL overcame a 2-0 first period deficit and beat the Russian Selects 4-2 Thursday night in Lethbridge in the final game of the Subway Super Series.

Greg Chase of the Calgary Hitmen scored twice for Team WHL while Derrick Pouliot of the Portland Winterhawks and Hunter Shinkaruk of the Medicine Hat Tigers had the other goals.

Wheat Kings' captain Ryan Pulock had an assist and was +1 for Team WHL in Thursday's contest.

"It's a big opportunity for the guys here to show off their stuff for the Hockey Canada scouts, and it's the last step in the process, I guess," Pulock told Hurricanes' PBP man Pat Siedlecki after the contest, "It's for fun to be able to represent your league but, at the same time, it's a lot about business."

Pulock and the rest of the CHL's top Canadian players will now wait on pins and needles as Hockey Canada goes through their reports and selects the players for their Selection Camp.

That roster will be released on Monday.

Meanwhile, Thursday's victory sealed a series win for the Canadian Hockey League.

The CHL and Russia each won three games, but the CHL claimed the series victory on points with a 10-8 edge.

That's because they were using the International system of three points for a regulation win, two points for an overtime or shootout win and one point for an overtime or shootout loss.
