Wheat Kings Pick Up Goaltending Depth

Christopher Tai
The Brandon Wheat Kings acquired from goaltending depth on Thursday, acquiring 18-year old Christopher Tai from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for a conditional eighth round pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft.

Tai was one of three goaltenders on the Hurricanes' roster, along with former Wheat King Corbin Boes and ex Regina Pat Teagan Sacher.

With Curtis Honey still sidelined with an upper body injury, the 5-foot-9, 175 pound Tai gives Brandon a backup for rookie Jordan Papirny.

Papirny has started nine straight games for the Wheat Kings, with several different netminders serving as emergency backups over the last three weeks.

Tai has played in 20 career games in the WHL and has a 5-6-0 record with a 4.44 goals against average and .871 save percentage.

He's joined the Wheat Kings in Cranbrook and will likely be in the lineup for Friday's game against the Kootenay Ice.
