Pulock Named WHL Player of the Week

Ryan Pulock
Brandon Wheat Kings' captain Ryan Pulock was named the Western Hockey League's Player of the Week on Monday.

Pulock had two goals and five assists for seven points in three games last week while also registering a +3 rating.

His play helped the Wheat Kings go 3-and-0 last week.

"Obviously, I had a few good games but it also comes along with our team playing well and producing as well," said Pulock after Monday's practice, "I give a lot of credit to the guys as well."

Part of the reason for Pulock's success was the ability of Brandon's power-play to produce.

The Wheat Kings went 6-for-15 with the man advantage in the three games last week and are now fifth in the WHL with 24.3% success rate for the season.

"That's huge and I feel I play a big role in that. I think the biggest thing for us is we've kind of simplified it a bit," said Pulock, "We're been getting pucks on net and we've been able to pounce on rebounds and that's been huge for us.  I think the biggest thing to our success is being simple and shovelling pucks at the net."

Pulock now has 21 points in 18 games this season and is 11th in defenceman scoring in the WHL.

The Wheat Kings will take a three-game winning streak into Tuesday's game in Swift Current, the opening game of a four-game road trip for Brandon.
