Notes
- the Wheat Kings will be without goaltender Curtis Honey (upper body) for the third straight game tonight.  Tyson Verhelst, a Brandon product and Spokane Chiefs' prospect, will serve as the emergency backup behind Wheat Kings' rookie Jordan Papirny.  Verhelst, 16, played in three pre-season games with Spokane before joining the MJHL's Neepawa Natives.  He's got a 3.92 GAA and .885 SPCT in four appearances with Neepawa this season.

- D Rene Hunter and D Kord Pankewicz are both back after missing three and two games respectively with upper body injuries, although Pankewicz will be a healthy scratch tonight. Joining Pankewicz in the stands are Jesse Gabrielle, Brett Kitt and Braylon Shmyr (all healthy).

- Peter Quenneville will make his Wheat Kings' debut on a line with Chad Robinson and Rihards Bukarts.  Quenneville had 33 goals and 70 points in 63 games with Dubuque in the USHL last season and talking to a few hockey people the last couple of days, the belief is he's capable of producing at a similar point-per-game pace in the WHL.

- a win tonight for Brandon would be the 340th for Kelly McCrimmon as Wheat Kings' head coach, and tie him with Bob Loucks for 17th-place in the WHL's all-time list for victories as a coach.  The Wheat Kings' franchise record for coaching wins is 363, held by Bob Lowes during his nine seasons behind the bench from 1992-2001.

- the Blades come in having lost four in a row, outscored 22-16 in those four contests.  Coincidentally, former Wheat King Ayrton Nikkel has been sidelined for four games with an upper body.  Nikkel will miss his fifth straight game tonight.
