| Wheat Kings' captain Ryan Pulock will play for Team WHL in the Subway Super Series again this year |
It'll be the third straight year Pulock will play for Team WHL in the event but the Grandview, Manitoba product is putting a little more importance on the annual showcase for the Canadian Junior Team than the past two seasons.
That's because this year is the last kick at the can for Pulock to represent Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship.
"This is my last crack at the World Junior team. As a kid growing up, that's kind of a dream of everyone's, I think," said Pulock, a first round pick of the NY Islanders in the 2013 NHL Draft, "Here being my last crack and the coaching staff being part of the Super Series, I need to really focus in on that game and have a good game."
The Team WHL coaching staff of Red Deer's Brent Sutter and Kootenay's Ryan McGill are also the head coach and assistant coach with the Canadian Junior Team, giving Pulock a chance to strut his stuff for at least part of Hockey Canada's decision making team.
"It's exciting as much as it is nerve-wracking," said Pulock, "I'm just going to go there excited and be excited to play and go out there and just play my game, don't do anything out of the ordinary and just have a solid outing."
Pulock will play in just one of the two WHL games in the Super Series, that being Thursday night's contest in Lethbridge.
The 19-year old has already had a chance to make an impression with the Hockey Canada folks as one of the players that participating in the Summer Development Camp in August that included a mini-tournament in Lake Placid, New York.
Hockey Canada is expected to announce the roster for the Selection Camp on Monday, and most expect the number of players invited to be drastically reduced from what it's been in past years.
