Notes
- The Wheat Kings will scratch D Eric Roy (upper body, day-to-day), D Dominic Thom (healthy), F Tyler Coulter (healthy), F Brett Kitt (healthy) and F Braylon Shmyr (healthy).

- Eric Roy had played in 101 consecutive games before being scratched tonight.  Roy played all 72 games last season and hadn't missed a game since sitting out three in row from January 18-21, 2012.  Those were also the only three games he missed that season.

- Jordan Papirny starts in goal for Brandon while Payton Lee starts in goal for Vancouver.  The two 17-year olds were the first two goaltenders picked in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft, with Papirny being chosen by Brandon with the last pick of the first round, 22nd overall, and Lee going to Vancouver in the second round, 28th overall.  The two were also teammates on Team Pacific at last year's World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

- This is Vancouver's first visit to Brandon since November 30th 2011.  That night, Brenden Walker had a goal and two assists to pace the Wheat Kings to a 5-4 victory over the Giants.  Brendan Gallagher had a hat-trick for the Giants.  Last season, Nick Buonassissi had a pair of goals as Brandon won in Vancouver 3-2 on October 24, 2012.  That was Payton Lee's first career WHL start.  He made 25 saves.

- If you missed the news earlier today, five Wheat Kings' prospects were named to Team Manitoba for the Western Canada Under-16 Challenge Cup later this month. Nolan Patrick, Tanner Kaspick, Ty Lewis, Dylan Thiessen and Linden McCorrister were all chosen by Brandon in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.  Team Saskatchewan was also named today but no Wheat Kings' prospects are on that team, mainly because Brandon didn't pick any Saskatchewan players in the draft in May.  Team Alberta and Team B.C. are to announce their rosters on October 15th.  The Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup will take place from October 31 - November 3 in Calgary.
