Green Returns to Seattle

Brandon defenceman Taylor Green faces his former
Seattle teammates for the first time Tuesday
The Brandon Wheat Kings continue their six-game road trip Tuesday night when they visit the Seattle Thunderbirds, (8:35 p.m., 880 CKLQ).

It’ll be the first time Brandon defenceman Taylor Green faces his former team since being acquired by the Wheat Kings on August 15th for a conditional fifth round pick in the 2014 Bantam Draft.

“I have a lot of good memories here, I got a good start in the league here and it’ll be fun playing in the game,” said Green after Monday’s Wheat Kings’ practice at the ShoWare Center, “It was a little weird at practice first having (his former Seattle teammates) watching and stuff but I’m trying to keep it business-like and just focus on the game.”

Green has one assist in 11 games with Brandon this season after scoring two goals and seven points in 65 games as a WHL rookie with the Thunderbirds last season.

The 6-foot-7, 225 pound Green has been paired primarily with fellow 18-year old Colton Waltz so far this season.

I think we’re a good pairing.  I think he’s got some offensive upside, can rush the puck and make plays and I’m a steady guy and he’s good defensively too,” said Green, “I think we’ve been playing well together and I have fun playing with him.”

A product of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia is one of the few Wheat Kings with extensive experience playing in the U.S. Division and Green doesn’t mind sharing that knowledge.

“(Nick Walters) and I are kind of the experts on the guys, the way teams play, the buildings and stuff,” said Green, “The guys are used to how loud and crazy some of these U.S. fans can be so it’s been fun to give the guys some pointers and be a bit of an expert for them out here.”

Brandon will be trying to break a two-game losing skid on Tuesday night and, in the process, keep from dropping below the .500 mark for the first time this season.

Chaff...Brandon has won the last four head-to-head meetings with the Thunderbirds and haven’t lost in Seattle since October 28, 2005...the Wheat Kings will visit Portland Wednesday, Everett on Friday and Lethbridge on Sunday to close out their current road trip.
