Riley Van Horne |
The 17-year old Van Horne played in just one game this season, going pointless with an even plus/minus rating.
"With Ryan's (Pulock) return, it puts us at nine and that's just not a number that's going to work so it was a decision we made to get down to eight," said Brandon GM/Coach Kelly McCrimmon, "He was a guy that was here last year for half a year and was in-and-out of our lineup. I didn't think it was going to be a good situation for him to be in a similar position this year and with seven veteran defencemen, it just didn't add up for him."
Van Horne's release leaves Brandon with 25 players on their roster -- 15 forwards, eight defencemen and two goaltenders.
Meanwhile, defenceman Eric Roy did not practice on Thurdsay after being injured in Wednesday's win over Edmonton.
McCrimmon says the Calgary Flames' draft pick is day-to-day.
