Notes
- Brandon will be without Tim McGauley (upper body) for the second straight game tonight, with McGauley being joined on the sidelines by D Rene Hunter (upper body) and F Jayce Hawryluk (coaches' decision). Brett Kitt took warmup but was then a healthy scratch.
- The decision to leave Hawryluk out of the lineup tonight shouldn't come as a big surprise to anyone that listened to Tuesday's game in Seattle. Hawryluk did not have another shift after Seattle's fourth goal 4:54 into the second period. Perhaps some tough love being handed out to the Wheat King' sophomore winnger tonight.
- Brandon went 0-for-4 on the power-play last night and are now 1-for-15 with the man advantage during the first three games of their road trip. As discussed on the post-game show, last night's 0-for-4 was a little different than the previous game against Tri-City with Brandon GM/Coach Kelly McCrimmon pointing out their the power-play was actually more of a momentum killer and a momentum builder in the contest against Seattle.
- The Winterhawks enter Wednesday's game riding an eight-game winning streak, having outscored the opposition 42-21 in the process. Portland high-scoring trio of Nic Petan, Brendan Leipsic and Oliver Bjorkstrand have combined for 15 goals and 46 points during the streak while defenceman Derek Pouliot has 14 points (3 G, 11 A) and is +12 in the last nine contests.
- Interesting stat of the night -- Portland is 1-3-0-1 when scoring three or fewer goals this season. When they score four or more, they are a perfect 10-0-0-0. Gives you a good idea of the threshold for the Wheat Kings tonight.
