Ryan Pulock is back in Brandon.

The Wheat Kings' captain was returned to the team by the NHL's New York Islanders on Monday after spending close to a month with the team that selected him 15th overall in the 2013 NHL Draft.

"I think they were pretty happy with me.  I feel pretty confident with what I did there over the past month or so," said Pulock after landing at the Winnipeg airport late Monday afternoon, "They told me it was a tough decision for them to make, to send me back, which is kind of what I want to hear.  My job was to go there and try and make the team and I think I did pretty good at that."

Pulock played in four pre-season games with New York, scoring one goal, one point, having a -2 rating and averaging 17 minutes and 16 seconds of icetime.

His performance convinced the Islanders to sign the Grandview, Manitoba product to a three-year, entry-level contract this past weekend.

"Obviously, I'm happy.  They must have some trust in me to sign me to that deal," said Pulock, "They must think I have a chance at having a future there.  That's exciting and I'm definitely happy to get that deal done."

According to www.capgeek.com, Pulock's deal including a signing bonus of $277,500 plus base salaries of the rookie maximum base salary of $925,000 plus up to $500,000 in performance bonuses.

Pulock is expected to practice with the Wheat Kings on Tuesday and be in Brandon's lineup for the first time this season on Wednesday night when the Wheat Kings open a five-game home stand by hosting the Edmonton Oil Kings.

The 6-foot-1, 218 pounder feels he can take what he learned in the NHL for the last month and apply it to his 2013-2014 season with the Wheat Kings.

"I think it's going to help me a lot.  I think I learned a lot, learned a lot about how much it takes, how hard you have to work every single day to get better," said Pulock, "If I can bring that back to Brandon and do those little things I learned and keep working on the little things, I can improve my game a ton."

Pulock has 41 goals and 147 points in 196 career WHL games with Brandon and
