- The Wheat Kings have lost seven straight regular season games to the Oil Kings and 11 in a row if you include Edmonton's sweep of Brandon in the second round of the 2012 WHL playoffs. Brandon last win over the Oil Kings was October 29, 2011.
- Newly acquired Reid Petryk will not play for the Oil Kings tonight. Petryk, 20, was acquired from the Everett Silvertips on Tuesday for a third round pick in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft and a sixth round pick in 2015.
- Tyler Santos makes his first career WHL start in goal for the Oil Kings. The 19-year old spent last season with Bonnyville in the AJHL. He mopped up in the third period of Edmonton's 6-0 loss to Regina on September 25th.
- After four straight home games to open the season, this is Edmonton's first road game of the year and first of a three-game road trip in the East Division. The Oil Kings will visit Prince Albert on Friday and Saskatoon on Saturday to close things out.
